Memory. Silence. Witness.
Selected Works
The Archive
Threshold of Memory
Fabric, shadow, framed object · 2023
A meditation on what we carry and what carries us. The threshold is not a place — it is a duration.
Caution Archive
Mixed media installation · 2023
Warning tape becomes ritual object. Evidence becomes monument. The archive refuses to stay silent.
Hand Studies
Ink on paper · 2022
The hand as archive. Every mark a form of witness. Every line a record of presence.
Grey Coast
Charcoal on canvas · 2022
Atmosphere rendered as landscape. Grief has its own weather, its own coastline.
Blue Dome
Oil and texture on canvas · 2023
Architecture of worship, architecture of loss. The dome holds what the body cannot.
Witness
Charcoal and newspaper · 2023
To witness is to carry. The body becomes testament. The newspaper becomes skin.
Red Fragment
Portrait study, mixed media · 2022
What persists when everything else dissolves. The fragment holds the whole.

Donya Kavoosi is a contemporary mixed-media artist whose practice spans installation, drawing, and painting. Her work is grounded in personal and collective histories — the fragments left behind by displacement, loss, and the ongoing act of bearing witness.
Working primarily in charcoal, fabric, newspaper, and found objects, Kavoosi creates visual archives that resist forgetting. Each piece asks: what does it mean to survive something? What shape does grief take when given a surface?
